In the 1970s, Pierre Fabre, a pharmacist and botanist from Castres in south-west France, turned his attention to oats: a plant largely forgotten by modern medicine, despite three thousand years of medicinal use. His research led to a discovery that would define everything that followed.

In 1982, A-Derma launched its first product – a simple dermatological oat soap bar. The name itself says it plainly: A for avoine (oat), D for dermatologique. The brand became a pioneer of plant-based dermo-cosmetics.

At the centre of every A-Derma formula is Rhealba® Oat – a specific variety grown exclusively in the Tarn region of south-west France on a dedicated plot called Terre d'Avoine. The young shoots are harvested at exactly 10 to 12 weeks, when the concentration of calming flavonoids and balancing saponins peaks. More than 50 independent clinical studies confirm what dermatologists and paediatricians have known for over 30 years: Rhealba® rebalances, soothes and repairs fragile skin – without introducing detectable proteins, making it exceptionally safe even for the most reactive skin.
